A
simple elm box concealing a modern flushing cistern. The box appears
to be fully lined with lead sheet but it actually just wraps over the
top. All the screws have had their heads re-worked to resemble old hand
made screws. As with much of our furniture we have used the boards virtually
untouched from their air-dried state (ie. with all their subtle twists
and bows) as, in our opinion, the finished result is far more authentic
and pleasing on the eye than 'soul-less' machine planed timber, although
it does present much more of a challenge to construct! |
