BOARDED & LEDGED DOOR, handmade from
carefully selected reclaimed ancient floorboards. The simple mouldings
to the plank edges have been hand cut with old fashioned scratch stocks.
We retain as much of the untouched aged surface of the floorboards as
possible. Where we do have to cut and re-work any areas, they have been
treated to blend invisibly with these original surfaces. Something very
few people can do properly! We have used old fashioned nails and reworked
the heads and tails, so no two are exactly the same. All the ironwork
has been hand forged. As our client lives some way from our base in
Sussex, we were quite happy for him to arrange for his own local carpenter
to fit the door. |
