Constructed
from wide old oak floorboards, we carefully selected those with genuine
rotted ends to use for the bottom of this door. What you actually see
is the reverse side of the 'counterboarded' constructed door, (that
is vertical planks on one side fixed to horizontal planks on the other).
We used old fashioned nails for fixing. Note the short hinge returns
and hand forged wrought iron handle. The wall, in which the door is
hung, was built at the same time as the door using reclaimed 2"
bricks, local flints and lime mortar. The old brick pavior path was
          also laid recently. |
