GUEST
ROOM IN A THATCHED BUILDING, erected
during the early 1990’s. The heavy post and plank panelling has been
decorated with ‘lambs tongue’ stop chamfers and ‘masons mitres’ to the
framing. This panelling, together with the undulating wide-boarded floor
and limewashed beams, were constructed entirely from antique oak and
installed in an otherwise completely bare shell. Replica 14th and 16th
century fabrics, hung on wrought iron poles and rings, furnish the oak
frame windows and the pair of lancet head doorways, at the end
of the panelling. Tinted soft distemper applied to the wall framing
panels completes the authentic period feel. We were responsible for
the entire scheme including design, sourcing materials and installation. |
