ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORK |

OAK WINDOWS IN A 17TH CENTURY THATCHED COTTAGE. Handmade from ancient reclaimed oak and left to weather to a natural silvery grey colour, these windows replaced modern and unsuitable softwood windows, which had rotted beyond economical repair. All the glass used was either old or restoration glass and the opening casements were made from genuine wrought iron. The oak frames have been assembled using pegged mortice and tenon joints. Much of the work involved replacing unsightly brick and flintwork around the windows, using old bricks and traditional lime mortar. |
